In most cases Yandex returns spend on traffic that Yandex Direct has already classed as invalid. The antifraud guide says this happens automatically, back to the account balance. A letter to support returns money only when the suspicion is confirmed. A click that looks empty to you, but never landed in that bin, is not promised back.

Below is how the automatic return differs from a reply to a letter, why a campaign can pause during a second check with no charge on screen, and which transfer is a different procedure. What Direct means by an invalid click is covered in invalid clicks. A click that stayed in spend after the filter is outside this page. That boundary is set in what ad click fraud is.

The automatic return covers traffic already classed as invalid

The guide answers the money question in one line: in most cases, spend on invalid traffic is returned to the account balance automatically. The same mechanism is described next to that line in different words. Recognized traffic is removed from the reports, it is not charged, and the spend goes back to the shared account balance.

That is a return of what the filter already took out. It does not price the clicks still sitting in spend. A larger invalid-click column means a larger amount already sent back, not a new hole in the budget. How to count the sum that stayed on the bill is in the loss calculation.

The page never collapses “account balance”, “shared account balance” and “the cabinet’s main account” into one name. The letter, below, talks about the cabinet’s main account. The automatic path, in the same passages, is called the account balance and the shared account balance. Until the guide equates them, they stay different wordings.

A letter works only after the suspicion is confirmed

The second path on the same page is a message to support. Money is returned to the cabinet’s main account when both conditions are met. You gave the ad number, the period of the suspicious clicks, the Yandex Metrica counter number, links to the reports and other data you had already pulled apart. And the suspicion was confirmed.

An unconfirmed letter does not move spend. The page does not promise to return every click the advertiser finds suspicious. The field list here is the refund condition from the guide, not a recipe for assembling a complaint. That form is not in this text.

Taking out money you deposited yourself is not described on this page. Do not mix it with a return for invalid traffic: the antifraud guide does not describe that second procedure.

A second check can hold the sum and stop impressions

Clicks the online filter has classed as invalid are not paid. Statistics are then checked again. The guide on impressions says some clicks already counted can be filtered too, the money for them is returned, and the campaign’s mailbox gets a notice.

While the check runs, Direct holds the click’s cost and does not show that hold as a charge. If the held sum reaches the remainder on the campaign account, impressions stop. They resume when the invalid clicks are released.

The guide suggests a rough figure for the amount at risk: filtered clicks times the average click price, compared with the remainder. That estimate answers whether the hold might stop delivery. It is not a formula for the campaign’s loss. Clicks the filter never touched do not go into it.

The site does not make this transfer

A script on the site sends one check for the visit. The outcome is one of three: let the person through, give the browser a short computing task, or keep them out. If there is no answer, the visit is let through. The script does not run the Direct cabinet and does not count money. Only Direct can return spend to the balance, and only under the rules above. The on-site check does not promise that the ad system will class a particular click as invalid.

An empty click comes from software, a person paid to click, a competitor, or an accident. The report shows a trace, not a name, and you pay for what the filter missed.
